Inman reported last week on a NAR study showing that the majority of homebuyers under 50 used a mobile application to search for a home. Of those, about 25% actually ended up buying a home found using a mobile application. That’s not too surprising, since, when you’re running around looking for a home, mobile search makes all kinds of sense.
By contrast, the survey found that very few homebuyers found their agents using either mobile or desktop searches or websites. Instead, 52 percent of shoppers overall found their agent through a referral, from a friend or other connection. Again, it makes sense – we want to work with people we trust, and it’s hard to make a real connection through a relatively anonymous web search.
