Your SavvyCard is a reflection of you — and you only have one chance to make a good first impression — so put your best face forward by adding a great looking photo.
For SavvyCards, we highly recommend using cut-out photos because of the “Wow” factor they deliver. A “cut-out” photo is a picture where the background has been clipped out so only you are visible (for example, see www.SavvyCard.net/Lisa). A cut-out photo will give your SavvyCard a wonderful, professional feel and also put the emphasis on you and not what you might be standing in front of. If you can’t cut out your own photo, SavvyCard offers the service (done by professional graphic artists) for a very nominal fee of $27.99. Or you can get your own graphic design professional to do it for you, or if you’re handy with Photoshop, you can give it a try yourself. A future blog post will explain how.
Whether you decide to order the service from SavvyCard, do it yourself, or have a 3rd party do it for you, here are some tips to keep in mind so your photo looks best:
1) The more the object (you) contrasts with the background (i.e. a light object on a dark background, or a dark object on a light background), the better your photo will look.
2) The simpler the background (i.e. a plain wall or a plain backdrop) the better your photo will look.
3) Vertical format (portrait oriented) photos work best as opposed to horizontal format (landscape oriented) photos.
4) Make sure the photos are as high resolution as possible (between 1mb and 10mb in filze size is good). If the file is less than 1mb in size, the photo may already be web optimized (low res) and the result might not be as good as a higher resolution photo.
5) Whenever possible, use photography shot by a professional. The difference between a snapshot and a professional portrait is all about the lighting. Great lighting can make a big difference!
